Articles & Statements

For the last couple months, we have taken our message of “Money for Peoples Needs, Not Genocide” out into the California 37th Congressional District. And it looks like I am the only candidate that actually lives in this district. And in this district I especially understand the double standards of racism that refuses to see our perspective and refuses to allow the voices of Black and Brown communities. And, that is not in the interests of our international and domestic working class.

Our movement has fought to expose the US role in the horrific genocide being conducted against the Palestinian people, justified by Israeli lies of terrorist acts that even the corporate media and the mainstream Committee to Protect Journalists has exposed as possesing a dearth of credible evidence. But the terrorism of Israel is there for everyone to see. Just the other day, zionist forces bombed food distribution in South Gaza’s Rafah city. This flour massacre is just another brutal chapter in a long book of genocide against Palestine. The US and “Israel” continue their campaign of horror and slaughter, and this is part of the war on our international working class - pushing the ideology of fascism and using the tool of genocide.

To this effect, any US political candidate or politician who refuses to stand with Palestine or support a ceasefire, is complicit if not actively participating in the genocide against Palestine. This dynamic has crystallized in California’s 37th Congressional District.

Out of the four candidates on the ballot in the 37th, our campaign is the only one that has consistently demanded not only a permanent ceasefire, but an end to zionist apartheid. In fact, the front runner and incumbent in this race, Sydney Kamlager-Dove, actually opposes a ceasefire.

Since October 7th, Congresswoman Kamlager-Dove has voted again and again in support of the zionist apartheid regime. This includes votes supporting the censure of Rashida Tlaib, a resolution reaffirming “Israel’s” right to exist, and a resolution in support of “Israeli” self defense. However, Ms. Kamlager-Dove did not stop there. She actually co-sponsored two pieces of legislation in support of zionism.

The first resolution she co-sponsored condemned the October 7th Palestinian rebellion against decades of brutal occupation and apartheid. The other resolution was in support of, “standing with “Israel” as it defends itself against the barbaric war launched by Hamas and other terrorists.”” Zionism bombs thousands and thousands of children, but it is the resistance that is "barbaric" according to the Democratic party, a typical use of the double standard.

This is exactly what is at stake in this election. Who deserves our support - a mainstream Democrat who refers to the brave Palestinian resistance as barbarians and attacks Arab congresswomen who stand against genocide? Or a working class Black socialist who has dedicated his life and this campaign to standing against the US war machine, racist police terror, and the current genocide in Gaza.

This campaign is about building a movement for real change. We cannot tolerate the politicians who serve only in the interest of financial and defense monopolies, and continue to enable the systemic status quo of poverty, war and genocide.

For the sake of future generations here and in Gaza, we understand as socialists that we must declare that capitalism is unacceptable. Help build this movement that says you don’t have to accept the unacceptable, whether it be in the voting booth or on your block.

And you don't have to accept the unacceptable choice of a candidate enabling genocide. Don’t vote for genocide. Vote for socialism. Vote for Palestine. Vote for the People.

Vote for John Parker.

Let's continue the fight!

End the Biden/Netanyahu genocide!

The near-final results of the March 5th California primary do not at all reflect the outrage over the genocide that 'Genocide Joe Biden' is funding and arming. All over the world, including right here in Los Angeles - millions of people have marched, blocked traffic, shut down heavily trafficked streets, faced down armed police and risked facing serious legal charges. The crimes committed by the Zionist state with U.S. weapons include the murder of more than 30,000 Palestinian people, including 15,000 children and their mothers, the forced displacement of more than 1-million and purposeful starvation of the entire population of Gaza. The genocide has ignited a giant people's movement, inspired and often led by Palestinian youth. In L.A., the outrage has been expressed from City Hall to the Oscars to the Zionist consulate and many other places repeatedly.

Protesting the Billionaire Death Merchants
and calling for a recount

We, the John Parker Campaign team, and activists from the Harriet Tubman Center will continue the campaign to reach as many people as possible and organize greater numbers to hit the streets. That will include a call for an election recount. Given that 70% of the people in the U.S. support a ceasefire, the results in the 37th Congressional District should be called into question. Furthermore, the congressional enabling of Biden's complicity in Israel's genocide should disqualify any candidates who refuses to call for a genocide in the face of the current holocaust in Gaza.

Join us on Saturday, March 23rd from noon to 2 pm at 5278 West Pico Blvd to discuss plans for a series of actions in upcoming weeks - including at locations of arms manufacturers near Los Angeles.

"Stop the mass murder in Gaza! Stop the starving of Palestinians!

Statement of Peace and Freedom Party congressional candidate John Parker

"The Flour Massacre in Gaza was an act of deliberate murder by the apartheid forces occupying Palestine," declared  congressional candidate John Parker. "It's as criminal as the Soweto Massacre was in 1976."

"Biden is acting as Netanyahu's lawyer," said Parker. "At least 112 Palestinians were shot down in cold blood by Israeli soldiers as they were seeking food for their families. Yet the White House stopped a resolution condemning the massacre that was supported by all the other 14 members of the United Nations Security Council."

The excuse given by US deputy ambassador Robert Wood was allegedly not having "all the facts on the ground."

"The whole world saw the bodies and bags of flour covered with blood," said John Parker. The problem is U.S. support for  Netanyahu's bloody regime. Biden wants to give another $14 billion to kill children in Gaza."

"The Flour Massacre makes protests demanding an immediate ceasefire and allowing food trucks to enter Gaza all the more important," said Parker. Join me at City Hall starting at 1 p.m. this Saturday, March 2nd, to stop the U.S.-Israeli war on Gaza. Palestine will win!”

Statement on Aaron Bushnell's Heroic Sacrifice

February 26, 2024 — "I wish someone as courageous and honorable and human did not have to die," announced John Parker, the socialist candidate in California's 37th congressional district. "The tragedy we're seeing in Gaza is a horror that is so painful for the world that many in solidarity will do all they can to make it stop."

"Aaron Bushnell was so frustrated by this genocide that he felt the only way to make it stop was to take his life and make the world pay attention to the US complicity in Israel's genocide by wearing his uniform. He felt so deeply about the more than 10,000 children murdered by U.S.-made bombs and shells."

Aaron Bushnell self-immolated on Feb. 25 in Washington DC to protest the U.S. / Israeli war on Gaza. He did so in front of the embassy of the apartheid state that occupies Palestine.

"Joe Biden 's $14 billion assistance to further Israel's Genocide increases his criminal genocide and complicity of the United States as was clarified in the International Court of Justice decision brought by the South African government. That money adds on to the trillions stolen from the wealth that we working people create, and leaves no room for basic necessities that we need here, leaving us with nothing but poverty, war and genocide. So, Biden is not welcome here in South Central Los Angeles," said Parker.

"Aaron Bushnell's commitment to stop the killing in Palestine makes the Saturday, March 2nd demonstration at Los Angeles City Hall starting at 1 pm all the more important." said the socialist candidate. "Join me at City Hall to stop the U.S. / Israeli war on Gaza! Palestine will win!"

John Thompson Parker is a member of the Socialist Unity Party who has helped organize demonstrations in solidarity with Palestine. Campaign Statement on Developments in Rafah

February 20, 2024 — The Zionist genocide’s center is now the Palestinian city of Rafah. As the occupation terror campaign has moved south, over 1.5 million Palestinian people have found themselves packed into the sixty-five square kilometers that Palestinian Rafah occupies.

Rafah borders Egypt at the south end of the Gaza strip. For months now, the US, through their puppet governments in Egypt and “Israel,” has sealed the border between Egypt and Gaza. This has created a large and growing ghetto in a city that was already struggling under zionist siege.

Between zionist carpet bombing and zionist shock troop attacks on Palestinian hospitals and refugee camps, Rafah has become the very definition of hell on earth. John’s campaign condemns in no uncertain terms this recent US-backed zionist escalation against the Palestinian people.

It was to prevent this exact sort of worst case scenario that John and activists from across the globe traveled to Cairo in hope of joining an aid caravan, known as the Global Conscience Convoy, to the Rafah border crossing. Once there, those activists planned to hold a humanitarian sit in action until the border was opened and the genocide was ended.

Egypt forbade the GCC from proceeding, along with several other planned aid shipments. In reality, the US and its regional allies have allowed very little aid into the Gaza Strip since October 7th.

It seems that the GCC and the movement behind it had good cause to be concerned. This is exactly what we set out to fight and prevent. Now, the Rafah border is inaccessible to anyone who is not the Egyptian or zionist military.  The world cannot allow this. The UN, government and peoples friendly to Palestine, all international labor unions – these institutions must intervene in any way they can to stop the zionist project.

John’s and his campaign will always stand against US imperialism, and have no doubt that “Israel” is just an arm of US imperialism.

Healthcare is a human right!

FEBRUARY 10, 2024 — Health care is a human right and a social good which should be guaranteed equally to all US residents regardless of income, citizenship, gender, ability, race or ethnicity.

Our uniquely American system of profit driven corporate health insurance is a network of profit seeking businesses which control our access to health care with delays, denials and debt.  It is designed to extract profit by maximizing cost and minimizing care, to reward owners and shareholders with ever-increasing financial gain to the detriment of our health.  The goal is profit, not our health. The US insurance controlled system is unjust, fragmented, inefficient, very costly and based on racial and economic inequality. This must change.

Single payer health care is a publicly funded and privately delivered system guaranteeing equal access of high quality care to all residents. It is just, ethical, comprehensive, fiscally responsible, culturally sensitive and patient centered. The government collects the funds and pays the bills for our care, delivered to each of us independently by the providers of our choice. Single payer saves money while spending more on our care. It guarantees quality health care as a universal human right for all residents equally by removing barriers to the delivery of care.

Socialist countries are a good example of healthcare meeting the needs without regard to profit. Cuba presents a great example of providing healthcare. And, is a great example to follow in the struggle to bring single-payer healthcare into the United States, which is a good step towards quality and equitable healthcare.

120 million of US residents are burdened with medical debt and even bankruptcy. The US leads the developed world in preventable disability and unnecessary deaths totaling at least 70,000 lives lost every year due to lack of adequate care. This brutal system must change.

I stand with the National Nurses United in their advocacy for a single payer, improved medicare for all national reform. This is a struggle that is part of the movement to make reforms that expose the inadequacy of this capitalist system, and would help provide the most necessary services to the working class that we have already paid for with our labor.

Murderous Zionist Strikes on Homs in Syria

FEBRUARY 7, 2024 — John and his campaign in no uncertain terms condemns the zionist entity’s recent airstrikes on Homs, Syria. Homs is a large and densely populated city in central Syria.

The attack killed six civilians, including a child. The zionist air force targeted an area with mixed private and public property, including residences. It’s like the zionists cannot help themselves.

However, we must be clear. Every zionist air strike is a US air strike. Every innocent killed is killed by the US, whether it be in Gaza, Rafah, West Bank, Golan, Lebanon, Iraq, Yemen, or Syria. All the blood on the hands of zionism is even thicker on the hands of the US imperialists and their allies.

We must all continue to fight to end the US defense industry’s blood lust that fuels all this madness. This campaign will never stand by while the collective west spreads destruction and chaos throughout the global south.

Bring our money home now! No more funds for genocide! No more funds for imperialist war!

NATO War Rages in Ukraine

FEBRUARY 11, 2024 — The United States Congress is set to approve another tens of billions in funds for war across the world. This includes money for the Zionist apartheid state, Taiwan, and yes, Ukraine. Since the beginning of Russia’s special military operation in 2022, the United States war machine has pumped over 75 billion dollars into Ukraine’s military.

At the Parker for Congress Campaign, we know that there is a tremendous amount of pressure from the media to condemn Russia as a barbaric place run by a petty despot bent on world domination. However, that conclusion ignores history and it ignores the benefits that the US defense industry has reaped from the war in Ukraine for going on two years now.

This war did not start in 2022. This war started in 2014 when the United States supported a brutal fascist coup against a popularly elected government. In the wake of that coup, the US empowered the Ukrainian military to wage war on the people of Donbass. Eventually, NATO provocation after NATO provocation, Russia was forced into war.

Nobody wants this war more than the US defense industry. General Dynamics, Boeing, and Raytheon have reaped enormous profits as the US working class languishes in poverty, joblessness, and racism.

We have to be clear: Ukraine and “Israel” are the different sides of the same coin. Both are brutal fascist regimes acting at the behest of the collective imperialist west. This campaign will keep fighting until all that money exported for war, returns home for jobs, education, and healthcare.

On Philippines Solidarity Month: Pass the Philippines Human Rights Act! U.S. out of the Philippines! Victory to the People’s Democratic Revolution!

Black History Month happens to share February with Philippines Solidarity Month, though through no fault of either. Forget that February is already the shortest month.

It is more a function of what imperialism and white supremacy will tolerate from oppressed nationalities.

John Parker, socialist candidate for California’s 37th Congressional District, explains: “The ruling class knows that the less time the colonized, occupied, and exploited spend thinking about their histories and what connects them, the better. The less time we spend discovering our common enemy, the better.”

So of course we honor Philippines Solidarity Month. We salute not only the revolutionary legacy of the Filipino people, we hold in the highest regard their living revolution—their People’s Democratic Revolution.

“The role of the U.S. in the Philippines, much like its role in Palestine, and in so many others,” said John Parker, “is both deeply buried and deeply repugnant.”

In the late 1800s, the Filipino people, under the working class leadership of Bonifacio’s Katipunan, organized a nationwide armed struggle to free themselves of Spain, their 300-year colonizers.

The U.S. seized the opportunity to strike a deal with Spain, buying the Philippine Islands for a clearance rate of 20 million U.S. dollars. Adjusted for the current value of the U.S. dollar, the U.S. made off with an entire country for under $800,000.

To quell the people’s movement and to establish its imperial domination, the U.S. invaded as an occupying force. The first waves of military occupation in 1898 and 1899 wiped out a sixth of the Filipino population. By 1905, the end of the hot war, the U.S. had murdered 1.4 million Filipinos. After the first two decades of military occupation, 3 million Filipinos were dead at the hands of the United States.

And though the Philippines gained a nominal independence in 1934, the U.S. ruling class stayed in control through its various puppet governors, and thus the entirety of the Philippines’ political and economic life. This system gave the U.S. ruling class free rein to maintain its military occupation and rule through sheer force of violence–all without paying a cent on overhead.

”President” Ferdinand Marcos Sr., for example, in September of 1972, implemented a martial law so brutal, it left in its wake thousands of known extrajudicial killings and “disappearances,” and tens of thousands of documented tortures and political incarcerations. The Armed Forces of the Philippines (the “IDF” of the Philippines) and the Philippines National Police adopted a tactic called “salvaging,” in which they would leave the tortured and mutilated bodies of suspected activists in places to be discovered by the public. For these, the United States footed the bill. The top brass of these operations were trained by the CIA. All details eerily reminiscent of the story of Chile’s Salvador Allende.

The U.S. and its puppet ruling class in the Philippines, however, were right to be so desperately afraid of the Philippine masses.

“A genuine People Power Revolution ousted Marcos Sr.,” John remarks. “And another one ousted ‘President’ Joseph Estrada, another U.S. stooge, who was about to get impeached anyway.”

Bonifacio’s revolution was never truly defeated. The armed struggle, like any struggle, waxed and waned through the decades, but nonetheless survives and remains to be a vital, necessary, and influential tool for the people’s revolutionary struggle. The New People’s Army, in fact, has only grown stronger under the leadership of the Communist Party of the Philippines.

The story of the Philippines must never remain buried. It must be one more tool wielded by people’s movements everywhere.

“This is our solidarity message,” said John Parker. “On Philippine Solidarity Month, this campaign commits to never let the true story of the Philippines be buried. We commit to expose the imperialist United States for what it is—vicious, hideous, repugnant.”

“In the off chance I am elected to this office, I will support the passage of the Philippines Human Rights Act as introduced by Representative Susan Wild, and if it fails, I will reintroduce it to every Congress thereafter if I have to. Just as I will demand an end to funding genocide in occupied Palestine, I demand an end to funding the political and military occupation of the Philippines.”

“But we also know that reforms through legislation will not be allowed by the owners of capital. It will take a mass movement to make systemic changes.”

We also know that the repression and oppression of the Philippines requires the reactionary force of U.S. imperialism. We understand the need for us to build a revolutionary movement in the U.S. to end the assault on our international working class.

John Parker to Genocide Joe: People of the world say no to war!

On Friday and Saturday, February 2 and 3, 2024, the U.S. bombed alleged Iran-linked targets in Syria and Iraq. U.S. authorities say this attack is in retaliation for the attack that killed three U.S. soldiers in Jordan last Sunday, January 28. The Friday attacks represent an escalation in U.S. military action amid its strikes in Yemen.

John Parker, socialist congressional candidate for California’s 37th district, demands the White House and Congress end all wars and all war provocations.

“The same way the overwhelming majority of the world stands with Palestine, so do they oppose war,” said John Parker. “U.S.-led wars serve only the interests of the billionaires and war profiteers, offering the people nothing but pain, death, and suffering.”

To this day, the U.S. has not formally ended its 74-year war on the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, nor its political and military occupation of the Korean peninsula. Yet the west’s corporate media rattles sabers whenever People’s Korea demonstrates its ability to defend itself. Ostensibly, only the U.S.’s biggest aircraft carrier “Israel” has the right to self-defense.

John Parker mourns the death of the three Black soldiers killed in the Jordan attack. At the same time, their deaths are an indictment of US imperialism and white supremacy.

“Black, Brown, and poor working class people will always bear the brunt of the ruling class’s wars,” John reminds us. “Another war puts the most marginalized and exploited people in the line of fire. The ruling class can thank their poverty draft for that.”

John Parker declared: “Whether or not I am elected, I am calling on all peace-loving people to unite and build a mass movement strong enough to topple imperialism. It is the only way to truly stop the genocide in Gaza and to end the occupation of Palestine.”

Statement Saluting Black History Month

California's 37th district socialist congressional candidate John Parker demands to know, "When will we be paid for the work we've done?"

Congressional candidate John Parker declared that "justice demands reparations" at the beginning of Black History Month. While supporting the efforts of California legislators to secure restitution of stolen property and other important items, Parker believes more has to be fought for.

"Over fifty years ago, the Staple Singers asked 'when will be paid for the work we've done?'" said John Parker. "The money is there. Just the four richest California billionaires have a total stash of over $600 billion. All of their loot represents the unpaid wages of workers that produced that vast wealth."

Parker pointed out that "Biden can hand over $14 billions to Israel kill over 30,000 Palestinians in Gaza, of whom over 10,000 were children. Meanwhile SNAP benefits, formerly known as food stamps, were cut by a monthly average of $90 per household last year. Gaza's children are literally starving while millions in the United States are forced to line up for food banks."

"Reparations includes bringing home the sisters and brothers who've been railroaded to prison," said John Parker. "Trump and all the other corporate gangsters, banksters and slumlords should be locked-up instead."

The socialist candidate declared that "capitalist deindustrialization has deliberately targeted Black workers. While 50 years ago General Motors was the largest employer of Black workers, who were members of the UAW, today more Black workers are employed at low-wage, non-union Walmart than anywhere else."

"Stopping the war against Black people will be a victory for all poor and working people," said John Parker. "It goes hand-in-hand with demanding a ceasefire in Gaza and justice for Palestine."

John Thompson Parker is a member of the Socialist Unity Party who's running as the Peace and Freedom candidate for the 37th congressional district, which includes much of South Los Angeles, as well as parts of Culver City and Inglewood. He was jailed in Egypt while part of a solidarity delegation seeking to bring aid to Gaza.

Statement on the US War Budget

The proposed budget for the Department of “Defense” in 2024 is $842 billion. I place defense in quotation marks because the US government’s defense department is really an imperialist war department. Congress consistently passes huge military spending bills that only serve to fuel the military industrial complex and line the pockets of contractors like Lockeed Martin, Raytheon, and General Dynamics, and continue to deny us of the basic necessities of survival - healthcare, housing, nutrition and education.

Genocide Joe and his predecessors in crime have always supported and approved of this slush fund because that is what the entire system is intended to accomplish, a mass subsidization of war profiteering. This system doesn’t work for the people because it wasn’t designed to work for the people.

I am running for Congress because I believe we must use every tool in our arsenal to fight against this rotten system. This campaign is less about a result and more about a movement to end the tyranny of the US military industrial complex. Every billion for US war is another billion for the murder of Palestinian children, the illegal blockade on Cuba, and the continued propping up of right wing puppet governments like that of Abdeh Fatah El-Sisi, the very same government that arrested myself and others in 2023 for supporting Palesitne.

This campaign will continue far past this election because we must do everything in our power to end US war and genocide.

Statement on the US Attack on Yemen

The recent US-led coalition military strike on Yemen was not only a violation of international law, but it was just another brutal chapter in a long book of US terror in the Middle East. The western powers choose to attack Yemen in response to the Yemeni naval intervention in support of the Palestinian people.

Since mid-November, the Yemeni government has engaged in a heroic effort to isolate the zionist entity of Israel economically. Yemen’s main method of disruption has been seizing cargo ships headed to zionist ports. The Yemeni navy has also defended itself against US provocation in the red sea.

The Yemeni government has made clear that they will do whatever it takes to end the imperialists project of Israel and end the horrific genocide on Gaza. Their cause is just and should be met with praise, not bombs.

This campaign stands in solidarity with the Ansarallah and the people of Yemen.

Housing is a Human Right!

Congressional candidate John Thompson Parker declares housing is a human right. Make the billionaires pay to house the homeless and migrants!

On the eve of the annual count of homeless people in Los Angeles, John Parker, the socialist congressional candidate in California's 37th district demands that the wealthy and powerful be made to provide decent housing for all.

Last year 75,518 human beings were counted in Los Angeles county as being without shelter. The real number was considerably higher.

"It's outrageous that California has 186 billionaires while 200,000 people, including thousands of children, are forced to live outdoors in the Golden State. Yet President Biden has demanded another $14 billion for the racist apartheid regime occupying Palestine which has killed 25,000 people in Gaza," said Parker, who is running on the Peace and Freedom Party ticket.

According to the United Nations, 1.9 Palestinian people in Gaza have been made homeless by U.S.-made bombs. John Parker pointed out that "the homeless families in Gaza fleeing for their lives and all poor and working people in California share a common enemy: the capitalist system that was jumpstarted by the African Holocaust and the Holocaust of Indigenous Peoples in the Americas."

One of the biggest reasons for increasing homeless are massive rent increases that have enriched a few. The socialist candidate demands an immediate 50 percent rollback in rent.

'It's criminal that the big landlords and banksters keep thousands of apartments off the market in order to jack-up the rent," said John Parker. "The power of the people has to be organized to takeover those empty homes."

The socialist candidate also demanded justice for the migrants who are being blamed for the housing crisis. "Nobody should fooled by the racist campaign against immigrants, who have been forced to flee their countries by Wall Street's colonial policies and sanctions," said Parker.

"Housing is a human right that socialism will guarantee. Despite over 60 years of enduring a vicious U.S economic blockade, not a single child in socialist Cuba is homeless," said John Parker. "We need to organize a socialist revolution to get housing for all."

JOHN PARKER: Socialist for Congress

End the genocide in Palestine! People & planet over profit! Abolish racist police terror! End gender oppression!

John Parker is running to represent California's 37th district in the US House of Representatives. John is the 37th ONLY congressional candidate willing to fight for a PERMANENT CEASEFIRE in OCCUPIED PALESTINE.

"I'm running to a shine a light on the people who have the power to stop the genocide in Palestine. The billionaires, the war profiteers, and their representatives in Congress could make it happen with a stroke of a pen. All it takes is the courage to stand with the people."

100 Days of Genocide

January 14, 2024 — The Zionist entity’s latest genocidal war turned 100 days old on January 14. This awful anniversary symbolizes all the reasons I am running for Congress. The US continues to heap money into Israel’s genocidal land grab. How many more days will Palestinian babies be buried under rubble? The zionist slaughter of Gaza must end. This is why myself and others traveled to Egypt at risk to ourselves physically and mentally. We must all give what we can to end this US funded genocide.

Regardless of the result of this congressional election, our campaign to end imperialism and genocide will never end. This is about more than one election cycle in a system rigged towards the powerful. This is about sending a message to the ruling classes that the people of the US are not going to tolerate this anymore. That is why we are running this congressional campaign and this is why we all must continue to be in the streets for Palestine. No more money for zionism. No more money for the US war against Palestine, or Yemen, or Russia, or anyone else!

We remember all those Palestinians who have not only lost their lives to zionist terror over the past 100 days, but since the Nakba in 1948. Their existence was an act of resistance. Rest in power.

No More Breadcrumbs for Working People: Fight for a Union!

Working and poor people have been pushed back since the 1970s while the super rich has stolen trillions. Union membership has declined as nearly 7 million manufacturing jobs were destroyed by the wealthy and powerful.

Fifty years ago the largest employer of Black workers was General Motors. Today, it's Walmart that exploits everybody.

Wages have stagnated or even fallen. The buying power of the federal minimum wage is barely half of what is was in 1968.

The result is that there are 186 billionaires in California while 200,000 people are homeless. Capitalism makes a tiny few fantastically wealthy while millions live in misery.

We need to turn that around. The labor movement is showing us how to do it.

The UAW strike against GM, Ford and Stellantis, formerly known as Chrysler, brought the Big Three to their knees. It even forced Elon Musk to raise wages at Tesla because the super bigot is afraid of a union drive.

He should be. UAW has announced an organizing drive against the non-union auto companies.

That's what we need to win: struggle! It's only because of the efforts of unions and community organizations, including the essential push by the Harriet Tubman Center for Social Justice’s $15 minimum ballot initiative written by John Parker in 2013, that California's minimum wage was increased to 16 dollars per hour.

Back in 1963, one of the ten demands of the historic March for Jobs and Freedom, where Dr. King gave his "I have a dream" speech, was a two dollar an hour minimum wage. It was championed by A. Philip Randolph, the leader of the Railroad Sleeping Car Porters.

That two dollars an hour is now worth twenty dollars an hour because of inflation. We have to fight for more!

Nobody should forget how the Republican racist Reagan broke the PATCO strike of the air traffic controllers. But the strike breaking plan was developed under Jimmy Carter.

It was also the Carter administration that pushed deregulation that attacked both the Teamsters and airline unions.

It was the labor movement that was decisive in pushing back Trump. Joe Biden double-crossed railroad workers by taking away their right to strike. Biden should have attacked the railroad monopolies instead.

If Biden can find billions to kill Palestinian children in Gaza why can't he cancel student loans?

The banksters and other capitalists have two political parties. The working class and all poor people need one of their own.

That's why I'm running as a socialist on the Peace and Freedom Party ticket. We need to fight back against the filthy capitalist system that was jumpstarted by the Holocaust that preceded the Nazi genocide of Jewish people - the African Holocaust and the genocide of Indigenous peoples in the Americas.

We need to organize, organize, organize!

Statement on Student Debt

Approximately 45 million student loan borrowers across the U.S. owe $1.7 trillion collectively to the federal government and predatory private companies when all education should be provided at no cost. Nonetheless, the US government refuses to enact any significant form of student debt relief. Instead, millions of workers spiral further into debt while Biden and his cronies send billions of our tax dollars to fuel a war against Russia, bomb Yemeni cities, and commit genocide in Gaza.

The elected officials of the imperialist ruling class in the United States will always choose investment in war over investment in people. Investment in people doesn’t spike the profit margins of Lockheed, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, General Dynamics, etc. The list goes on and on.

We need money to relieve workers from the yoke of predatory student debt, not for missiles that murder children. The democrats and the republicans both are happy to shell out money for genocidal imperial projects like Israel, but the well is suddenly dry when it comes to any policy that would actually benefit the working class of the U.S.

The government should represent the interests of the workers, not the war profiteers. That is what John brings as a candidate for congress, someone who will prioritize the interests of the workers. Fund the people not the war machine!

South Africa charges "Israel" with Genocide

December 29, 2023 — On December 29, the Republic of South Africa initiated proceedings in the International Court of Justice against the Zionist entity known as Israel. South Africa’s filing alleged that “Israel” is committing genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip in violation of the Geneva Convention, not to mention basic human rights.

Significantly, South Africa’s filing did not confine itself to the events since October 7th. South African legal counsel argued that the current events in Gaza must be placed within the broader context of 75 years of apartheid. In such context, the Zionist entity’s current actions clearly fit into a larger strategy of attempted genocide and/or displacement of Plaestinians from Palestine.

Of course, the US and it’s Zionist project have predictably and fiercely opposed the ICJ genocide case. The actions of South Africa should be anything but opposed. Peoples from all over the world should rise in support of South Africa’s heroic actions to end the genocide in Gaza. Who is better fit to identify apartheid than a people who themselves were subjected to decades of colonization and brutal repression at the hands of European powers.

Instead of condemning the ICJ case, the governments of the world, including the US, should enact resolutions in support of and solidarity with the heroic efforts of the South African people to end the genocide of Palesitnians in Gaza.
